Low AMH Test

Understanding your condition is the first step towards parenthood.

A low AMH result frightens women far more than it should, and we say this at the outset because we watch it happen every week.

Fertility Calculators

A low AMH result frightens women far more than it should, and we say this at the outset because we watch it happen every week. It does not mean pregnancy is off the table. What it tells us is that your ovarian reserve, the number of eggs still sitting in your ovaries, has come down below what we would expect at your age, and truly that is all it tells us. At TheFertilife, Dr. Anshika Lekhi never reads this one figure by itself, she reads it next to your age, your antral follicle count and your FSH, because one number sitting alone decides nothing.

Patient FAQs

Not at all. Plenty of women with a low AMH go on to conceive, some naturally, some with standard treatment, and fewer eggs remaining is simply not the same thing as no chance.

You cannot. No supplement, no diet, no lifestyle change brings egg quantity back once it has declined, none of them lift AMH in any meaningful way either, and anything promising otherwise is selling you something the evidence does not support.

That depends on your age and on just how low the reading sits. Egg freezing can still be well worth doing, though you may need more than one stimulation cycle to bank a useful number of eggs, and Dr. Lekhi will give you a realistic estimate once she has tested you.

Not always. It does come up sooner though, sooner than for a woman your age with a normal reserve, purely because time counts for more when the reserve is low.

No. AMH is not like some of the other hormones, it heads downward with age and it does not turn around. A higher figure on a repeat test is nearly always the lab varying, not any real recovery.

The AMH test itself is ₹1,800 to ₹2,500. Everything past that hangs on which path you end up on, and the cost section above lays out the IVF and donor program ranges.
